The Manitoulin Fine Arts Association has evolved over a twenty year period. Since 1986 arts and crafts exhibitions, workshops, annual lace camps and the annual “Meet the Artisans” events were organized under the leadership of the original Gore Bay Manitoulin Art Club. In 1999, artists within that club formed a separate branch as a continuation of growth, entitled the Manitoulin Fine Arts Association.
The newly formed organization established a mandate which includes professional development and a desire to participate in the juried Northern Ontario Artists Association’s annual exhibition. MFAA has grown to a membership of over 50 and as of 2003 incorporated as a non-profit organization.
To encourage the development of original visual art by providing opportunities for professional development, experimentation and exhibition. To encourage the appreciation of original visual art with in the group and in the community.
