DIANE CARRIERE (Watercolour)279 Grandor Road Kagawong, ON P0P 1J0 705-698-6415 Diane Carriere has lived all her life in Northern Ontario and the beauty of the land and atmosphere always spoke to her. She knew she was drawn to light, colour and perspective at a young age however, never took up her passion until retirement in 2019. She was determined to learn how to manipulate this unforgiving and challenging medium. She persisted in studying the art of watercolour through books, resources, videos and workshops. The excitement and exhilaration she feels when the brush and watercolour hit the paper is a "high" that cannot be explained. She paints the environment that surrounds her in the Sudbury and Manitoulin Island area. Her goal in her impressionism style draws her audience into the same peaceful place that she is captivated by. "Being a watercolour painter is exiting and sends me in a place of peace and elation. Drawing was the only medium I was familiar with, however when I first saw watercolour paintings, I was hooked, and I had to learn how to create such mesmerizing paintings. The myriad of resources available and the exuberant feeling I had when creating with such fascinating and vibrant colours gave me the courage to challenge myself. Watercolour painting allows me to express myself and at the same time, surprises me with techniques that creates glowing lights and three-dimensional views. I will paint watercolour... forever." Mentors and Workshops: Ivan Wheale, Cathy Boyd, Ruth Reid, Christie Pearson- Anderson and Ona Kingdon (Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and member of both the National Watercolour Society and the Transparent Watercolour Society of America.)
