It is not my aim, or desire, to capture an exact likeness of the scene I attempt. If I were to replicate the image as any eye could see it I would feel I had failed art. The painting should reflect the event of observing at a specific moment. There is an environment for every experience and that specific sensibility should be available to the viewer. Through line and colour I strive to illuminate not only a moment of the natural world, but some small trace of the mystery and vitality of nature and existence.

Having drawn regularly since a child, mainly self-taught, I began working in watercolour, usually accompanied by black pen, in my early 20's. By my late 20's I began experimenting with oil paints, which I have utilized less frequently.

At times I have crafted distressed metal lamps and worked in stained glass, often using glass in the lamps. My work has been displayed in several solo or group exhibitions over the years.
