RICHARD EDWARDS (Watercolour, acrylic, serigraphs)454 Newburn Road, RR#1 Kagawong, ON P0P 1J0 705-282-0360 Richard Edwards is an accomplished Canadian artist whose work belongs to many private and corporate collections throughout North America and Europe. He was born in Toronto and has been a full time artist since graduating with honors from Ontario College of Art in 1970. Mr. Edwards works in a number of mediums, such as oils, acrylic, watercolours and serigraphs, and he has chosen the challenging art form of watercolour as his main medium from nature. These paintings and original hand pulled serigraphs capture a moment in time, filled with colour and natural light. Richard has spent many years refining his skills as a watercolorist. He uses multiple layers of washes to bring out the depths and mood of a subject. Work that Richard begins in nature is completed in the studio and when opportunity arises work is completed plein-air painting. His exceptional landscapes reflect his dynamic approach to watercolours and the respect he has for nature. Living permanently on Manitoulin Island he has the opportunity to paint mostly in Northern Ontario but has painted from across Canada to Mexico. Manitoulin Island is a picturesque and mysterious area and is a painter’s inspiration. Being surrounded by such rugged beauty he is constantly inspired to share his artistic visions. Richard works from his studio at Edwards Studios located in the historical Old Mill Kagawong. He is an Associate of the Ontario College of Art, a member of Visual Arts Ontario, Ontario Craft Council, Northern Ontario Art Association, Manitoulin Fine Art Association, Elizabeth’s Art Gallery Goderich and the Sudbury Northern Artist Gallery/Artist on Elgin.
